Have you ever imagined the relationship between Dutch colonization and occupation in Asia and bubble tea? Do you know why Korean Army Stew is called by the name? Rotterdam-based artist collective Sumerie Dining will explore the two faces of Asian delicacies by digging into the origin and history of Eastern Asian food from their Taiwanese and Korean point of view.  They will explore the role of wild plants as both food and medicine in times of scarcity, and guide participants to consider the intersection of exotic and native species plants in Taiwan’s food culture. This workshop is not only an artistic practice, but a deep reflection on botanical culture of a specific place, allowing participants to realize the close connection between food and historical significances.
