Yen-Ting Kuan is an independent curator, writer and translator from Taiwan based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Yen-Ting Kuan, born in 1986 in Taichung, is an independent curator, writer and translator who is now based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. She obtains a BA in English Literature from Catholic Fu-Jen University in Taipei, and an MA in Art History from the Universiteit Leiden. She has a particular focus on contemporary art and its relationship with new technologies, politics, and ecology. Furthermore, she endeavours to explore methods of decolonizing (contemporary) art history and politicalizing our relationship to the natural world through alternative perspectives, including colonial trajectories of plants and culinary culture, as well as her Asian cultural roots.

Kuan collaborate with artists and collectives on relevant issues. The recent project she has curated include: An Artist’s Guide to Culinary (Maastricht, 2023), and Customized Reality: The Lure and Enchantment of Digital Art (Taichung, 2018).

Kuan has experiences coordinating exhibitions at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, including Negotiating the Future: 2017 Asian Art Biennial (2017), No Such Thing as Gravity: An Exhibition Produced by FACT in Collaboration with NTMoFA (2017). Besides, she was responsible for devising the educational programmes at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei, and the Trend Micro Education Foundation. She has contributed to various art media such as Artco Monthly & Investment, Clabo, and the online magazine of the Nation Culture and Arts Foundation.
